HowTo ERROR 28 Set DELAY mm > xxx

Error and warning messages related to a too small DELAY mm setting.

When does a yellow Warning occur

With systems where the metal detector is NOT aware of the on/off state of the conveyor:
• none of the outputs is configured as ‘start conveyor’
• AUTOSPEED = off,

The warning of a too small DELAY mm setting appears if :
• An input ‘reject sync’ or ‘product ls’ is configured
• The parameter METAL CONTACT is set to ‘push1’ or ‘push2’
• The distance -METAL PHOTO mm + ½ measured product length is smaller than DELAY mm

If a too long product reaches the configured reject position the following warning message will be shown:

Adjust the DELAY mm as per suggested value and pass the same product again. The warning will disappear if the new setting is ok, otherwise the suggestion of the warning will be to increase DELAY mm further.

How to work around this warning:
Increase the setting of REJECT MENU > DELAY mm
Increase the distance between metal detector and pusher
NOTE: Longer products require a longer distance between metal detector and pusher.

Note: Changing the DELAY mm setting means actually physically moving the pusher, otherwise just changing the delay will result in no longer hitting the center of the product.

When does a red Error occur

With systems that are aware of the on/off state of the conveyor, meaning:
• an output ‘start conveyor’ is configured
• or AUTOSPEED = on

The ERROR 28 Set DELAY mm > #### appears if :
• An input ‘reject sync’ or ‘product ls’ is configured
• The parameter METAL CONTACT is set to ‘push1’ or ‘push2’
• The distance -METAL PHOTO mm + ½ measured product length is smaller than DELAY mm

How to work around ERROR 28:
Increase the setting of REJECT MENU > DELAY mm
Increase the distance between metal detector and pusher
NOTE: Longer products require a longer distance between metal detector and pusher.

The error can be cleared by adjusting the DELAY mm parameter as suggested or by confirming with the OK key or external reset push button.

Error 28 can be disabled by a user with Level 4 access via the
FACTORY MENU>UTILITIES>SIGNAL ROUTING>ERROR 28 DELAY = on/off.
This might be needed, in case it is not possible to move the pusher further away from the metal detector.

ERROR 28 DELAY = on : Error when passing too long products, or pusher too close to the metal detector.
ERROR 28 DELAY = off : Only the yellow warning is shown.

NOTE: Turning ERROR 28 DELAY = off could result in the tailing part of long products is not properly metal inspected due to wrong DELAY setting or wrong pusher position. Metal contaminations might remain undetected.
