Set another threshold to detect only big metal parts. The big metal detections are signalled on a separate output ‘big metal’.
BIG METAL mV allows to set another metal detection threshold.
NOTE – BIG METAL mV is a global setting. This setting remains same across all product numbers.
When the signal amplitude of the metal detector exceeds the BIG METAL mV threshold the output ‘big metal’ changes from high to low.
The ‘big metal’ output is independent from the general metal outputs, such as ‘metal’, ‘metal inverse’ and the K1 relay. In case of big metal parts normally both outputs ‘metal’ and ‘big metal’ are activated.
The ‘big metal’ output is subjected to the delay and duration timing settings.
Example: The metal detector is installed in front of the prepress. In case of small metal parts the pre-press may remain closed. The belt nose in front of the main press opens, however, to reject the metal piece. This decreases the amount of rejected material.
Recommended setting: Take the biggest possible metal piece that would not damage the prepress. Feed it through the middle of the aperture. Observe the metal detector’s signal amplitude. Determine the highest value that is displayed. Enter this value as BIG METAL mV.
Note: Set an output in the IN/OUT MENU to big metal.
Output ‘big metal’ is not available with BIG pba models.
